On my wedding day my mother gave me a brooch that had belonged to her great grandmother. It meant so much more to me knowing that it was a family heirloom that had been passed down from mother to daughter throughout the years. I have given my mother several pieces of jewelry over the years but I began to wonder which pieces would be valued enough to be passed down generation to generation. I decided that the next gift of mother’s jewelry will be special. I will buy it with the idea that each gift can become a piece of history in your family. I like to think that a child many years from now may be given a piece of jewelry by her mother that started it’s journey from me to my mother.
