Many retail stores are now requiring potential employees to submit to background checks prior to the start of employment. With shoplifting on the rise, it is natural that retail establishments would want to find ways to protect themselves. Some stores choose to install surveillance cameras and equipments. Others choose to hire security guards to patrol the store. A number of retailers have opted to install detectors at the entrances and exits, because tags that are normally removed at the register during purchase contain materials that the detectors will pick up. Many retailers believe that their problems are due to inside jobs, meaning that employees are actually the ones stealing from the store. Many have now opted to do background checks on employees prior to hire.
