I am a contractor and have an upcoming kitchen remodeling job scheduled. I was reading a magazine article about a particular brand of laminate flooring… the brand that the homeowners have chosen for their kitchen floor. The article stated that the flooring has a tendency to chip or split when being cut, which leads to a lot of wasted product and often an unhappy customer. I pride myself in my work. I have never worked with this type of flooring before, and I am reluctant to do so after reading this article. I do not want an unhappy homeowner giving me a bad reference following this job. I think I will show the article to the homeowner. Hopefully, he will change his mind about the type of flooring he wants me to install in his kitchen. If not, at least he will be aware of the fact that there may be potential problems with this brand and know that there is the possibility that additional product will have to be purchased.
