Drooping eyelids or bags under the eyes can make a person look more tired than they feel and can also add a few years to their appearance. An eyelid tuck, also known as blepharoplasty can take years off a person’s appearance making the patient look younger and fresher. In addition to removing excess skin and possibly some fat from the upper eyelids to reduce drooping eyes, blepharoplasty can also reshape the lower lid to reduce puffiness.
The procedure can be done in a plastic surgeon’s clinic office at cosmetic surgery Lexington KY or in a hospital and typically lasts between one and three hours. There is usually no need for an overnight stay and while the stitches from the procedure are removed in about three days, it generally will take a week before makeup can be applied and the person returns to work.
When performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, blepharoplasty complications are not usually expected and are usually minor. There are some medical conditions that may preclude someone from being a candidate for blepharoplasty including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and hypothyroidism. Always check with an ophthalmologist or family doctor before undergoing such procedures.
